Seems like my tank has a high demand for Magnesium. It always drops back down to around 1200 a few weeks after I bring it up to 1500. I have always used Seachem dry Magnesium to bring it up. But since I use the whole 2kgs just to bring my level to par, Im looking for the most cost effective method. Thanks guys

I just started using Magflake. Bought a couple of bags during the group buy.

I also use the Zeomag in my Ca reactor. I need to do some tests though to check my levels. Haven't done it in a long time. Is there any easier way to test Mg? The SeaChem kit is a major PITA to use.

Serious ? That doesnt sound right though man,..from 1500 to 1200 in a couple of weeks??.I dose 2part magnesium everytime i run through a gallon of ca/alk.

But if you really have such high demand you might want to drip it,..maybe with an aqualifter pump. Still though its the first time i ever hear about such magnesium consumption,..smth is not right

btw,..i find Elos magnesium tests to be really user friendly and qualitative

Agreed. Something is off here.

MikeEe, check your alkalinity level. Is it stable? Changes in alkalinity and carbon dioxide may cause precipitation of magnesium.

Your magnesium should not be dropping that much over the course of a few weeks.

Also, you might want to consider lowering that level down to about 1400 at the maximum.
