I was sold a slow leaking 50 gallon aquarim from this seller last weekend, while at his home I pointed out the inside right side panel of the the stand had some water damage & dried salt. He told me not to worry it was just splash from water changes. Well I filled it with water to leak test yesterday & the right side of the tanks bottom seam is leaking & running down to right where all the water damage & salt stains are. Now that I'm looking hard the whole inside of the tank has been resealed & the job was sloppy & obviously ineffective. This guy seemed super cool when I met him, man he was slicker than snot so I trusted, I was duped & I feel so foolish right now. Since the sale he hasn't answered a single call from me so he must have known & he just text me saying it was an as is sale & I could try taking him to court😦😢
If any members buy from him don't buy into his small talk, inspect all items carefully or make him leak test or plug them in to insure they're functioning properly Don't let your gaurd down in his upper middle class home either, if he'd pull a stunt like this he's obviously pretty thirst for cash. Don't let it happen to you. Man getting tricked really sucks😦pic 1 is of the water damaged panel I asked him about pic 2 is of the left side good panel for comparison .

Selling something as is. When wrongly informed of what "it" truly is. Sounds like a lucrative scam artist to me.

Maybe he thought it was salt creep from water splashing? Why would he have somebody over to his home and sell something he knew was defective. Not very smart in my opinion.

No disrespect but why would you not check before buying? Kinda hard to prove he knew about it, and you didn't just cause the leak after you brought it home if you just took his word for it. Plus if you don't know the guy why would you take his word? Call me paranoid but I never buy anything used without making sure it works properly first.

I'm pretty sure he stated that the guy told him it worked, and tried to push it off as if he just emptied it and upgraded... Which obviously wasn't the case, I agree that testing it would be the ideal situation. But the seller definitely played it off like it was normal.
