Any one have any luck with multiple pairs in a tank? Any tips?

Added 4 clowns to my tank at the same time hoping to get 2 pairs. However after 1 month the two naked clowns are not playing nice.
Black one is in the sump for now. I have a 66gal tank with one anemone that no clowns swim in, lol

The late Larry Montgomery who was and old school reefer/clownfish breeder use to have like 20+ pairs in his 240 "clown" tank. He had so many that they didn't know who to pick on and what not. Oh the good old days :)

Maybe I was lucky, but I have 4 clowns in my tank. My very first pair purchased 10 years ago when I had my 10g, later on I end up with 180g. They are just regular perculas. I added a snowflake and a black clown. The new fish were smaller than my female, black clown was bigger than my first male. So the female pushed her first male away and paired up with the black clown. Later on she allowed her old male and a snowflake to join. I also added a platinum clown, that they all cared less about, he has his elegance coral that he cares about. Not long age the black clown died, looked like he got some kind of infection (other clowns were fine). So I'm left with my big female, her very first partner, the snowflake, and the platinum clown.

I got a black ice, flowflake and phantom last year at max (impulse buy) the black phantom was the smallest and was beat up by the other two. had to take it out. But then again I have a 40 gal cube so maybe space issues.

I've had three pairs of clowns (phantom, oynx and pink skunk) in a 300 gallon and also school of perculas in 120 gallon. And they did fine. Just threw them in there. Lol

Only time I had issues is with the school perculas, I ended up losing a couple due to fighting when they were contained to a small section in the sump

I have a mated pair of regular clown fish, and my wife has a black clown fish.
We are getting ready to combine tanks and put the. all in the new tank... What are the chances they will be OK? Or should I get a 4th clown so that there will be 2 pairs... The black is smaller than both regular clowns that are mated.

I've always just thrown fish in and watch their behavior. Fish will either be able to defend themselves and join the pack or get bullied and hide towards a corner of the tank where I usually could catch the fish without removing any rock

At the year mark I had 3 pairs in a 6' 100g playing nice with 6 other clowns... Once the hierarchy was established it was much better...

What size is the new tank?
If possible give them Nems at opposite ends. Train them if you have to.
