Currently trying to figure out ehat to do about my alk, its high dkh 10-11, but my ca+ and mg+ are in line. Ca and alk are on dosers and i cant adjust em independently. Need ti bring down alk but dont want to alk swing. Will either do a water change with low alk water or pull the alk off the doser for a day or so. Maybe both...

10-11 dKH doesn't seem high to me, I try to keep mine about that level. I thought the standard is 9-12? What do you normally keep it at?

I like it at 9. Usually if i go higher i get white tips. I don't know, I've just got some base recession which made me test and that particular value is a bit high for me. I pulled out several big colonies recently and i think my demand for ca+ and alk probably went down so i turned back the dosers a bit. When things start looking not so good i get paranoid. I lost a few frags when i doubled my rowaphos recently and dumped a bunch of gfo into the tank after turning on the reactor. I read that that can screw up your ph and i had an alk swing with it too, so i'm recovering from that mini crash. That was three to four weeks ago, and since then, fresh cut frags havent done as well as usual upon mounting. So im just trying to be careful about any system changes i guess.

Great looking tank! Thing looks giant! I'm a big fan of not having to bend over to look at a tank, eye level is so much nicer.

My alk has gone from 9 to just over 10 over the last month and my sps have lost color and gone white on me, mostly encrusting areas and tips. Maybe I'll try lowering that slowly and see if some color returns. I'm also running sols + 4 t5s. Great to see some good growth and color with that combo! Just out of curiosity, what % you running the sols at?

I can try, its kindof a mess with all my timers. 3 ai sols, 4 t5s and a kessil 350w. Ive recently turned back my schedules to shorten the light cycle and reduce intensity and turn down blue cause i think i was blasting some of the corals. Its a shallow tank, 20", and there's crazy different light zones depending on placement. T5s at the edges, the frag rack gets most of the kessil. If i had a 24" wide tank, and hydra52s, i probably could simplify. Thats my next tank, 150 at 5x2x2. Change up the lighting and wait 6 months for the coral to stop freaking out.

Its pretty random now that i look at it

Ai sols (t, w, b, rb)
10a 0-10-30
12p 25-50-60
1p 45-71-80
7p 25-50-60
9p 0-20-50
11p 0-0-0

Kessil is on, low white and blue 2-5
T5s are on 2-6

I had a rabbit fish that went to town on the stuff. Not always the case though.
