I picked up a pretty good sized Naso on Sunday, ~4 inches long. Great looking fish, but I just can't seem to get it to eat. It generally hides in the back in some rock work, but does come out occasionally, seems super skittish. I have never had issues with tangs before, usually they eat in a day or two, but his/her stomach is starting to look a little pinched and i'm getting worried. All water parameters are normal, temp 77.6 and SG 1.025. I've tried squid (chopped), brine shrimp, Mysis shrimp (all frozen), green seaweed, formula two pellets and even threw in a few pinches of flakes. What's next or are they just sometimes hard to get to eat? I've got a bunch of blues and yellows in other tanks without any problems. His tankmates = 2x yellow wrasse, 2x leopard wrass 1 flame angel 2 cleaner shrimps, pom pom crab. she positions herself to get cleaned every so often but I don't see any thing on her skin.

I'm trying to solve this before I go fishing tomorrow night.

Actually, I was wrong... I had to go downstairs to check. My naso eats the purple seaweed, same brand tho. She only eats the green when the purple is all gone.

Usually if they don't eat the first week most likely will not make it. Same thing happened with mine. It was eating at the store when I brought it home didn't eat and end up dead

well he is eating now and the hallow in his gut seems to be gone. Less skittish. THanks for all the advice.

Fish can last weeks even months without food. Don't trip just try A Nori clip and stay out of the area the tank is at.

Seriously, the man is asking for advice. I am am sorry to hear that your tang did not make it but maybe try to throw in some positive words of encouragement rather than telling him that it won't live if it is does not eat in the first week.

Well I lucked out, or maybe just gave him so many choices he said enough already, I'll eat!

Regardless I'm super happy with him, my wife has named him "lipstick".
