So I spent a grand on a atb 10.5 skimmer with swabbie cup cleaner. The thread was here on socali. I was told by the seller that the skimmer was in perfect working order and only 6 months old.

The seller had a death in the family so I had no problem waiting a week for delivery. I received the package from ups 30 minutes ago and the immediately upon opening I saw that its broken. The box is in no way shape or form damaged. I called and texted the seller no answer or response.

What do I do now as this has never happened to me before?

Do you know if there was any insurance purchased form ups? Give it a couple days for the seller to respond.

Worst case scenario, how bad is the damage? Is it fixable?

Pics and where are you? I will never ship a skimmer ever again. I lost 400$ by sending a skimmer to a guy in VA. He conned me for parts. And then smashed my skimmer up purposely. Good thing is, karma.

Here are more pics of what I received. Keep in mind seller told me he bought it retail and it was only supposed to be 6 months old. Does this look 6 months old to any of you?

I have also called ups only to be informed that the insurance on the product was only $100. I called within 5 minutes of delivery. Thankfully when asked to paypal as a gift I declined and stated I would pay the extra percentage to get coverage.

What are my options? Anyone ever dispute through paypal before? What are my odds? I also used a credit card thankfully as I have a promotion going where I receive 5% cashback directly to my mprtgage principle...

I've purchased 2 grand worth of stuff on socali in two months or less trying to get my new tank going. Never had an issue and I'm sure the people I've recently purchased from can vouch for me and the way I've conducted business.

Your best bet would be to open a case with your credit card holder, they will most likely refund your money if you did in fact get a fast one pulled on you. Paypal is pretty useless for claims, I have had nothing but bad luck with them when it comes to things like this.

And I agree, doesn't look six months old, biggest indication would be the plug corrosion.

How tightly packed was the skimmer? Was there enough styrofoam peanuts to prevent the skimmer from moving at all?

So it looks like there's a crack on the pipe, can that piece be replaced with 1" pvc

I agree. I contacted my credit card company and they said I am covered. Also the discoloration of the acrylic and the growth in the bottom of the skimmer do not agree

looks like the pipe going into the body is what's broken. Hard to see in those pics if the body is broken. Bummer to here about this but we have had a couple bad skimmer shipping experiences here. Sounds like your coverd with your CC so that's good. Hopefully the seller will get back to you and you guy's can clear it up
