So my wife and I just bought a new home...you know what that means

Tank:
I just ordered a Miracles 72x36x22 rimless penninsula with starphire glass, should be ready in 8 weeks. I don't know how long shipping will take from Toronto.

Sump; AA 70x30x30 + 150 gal refugium and sand bed

stand: Will be built by Travis 72x40x44

Lights: ATI 60 inch 10 bulb. May add 4 radion pro's that I already have

Skimmer- debating between RLSS or Bubble king sm-300

THis will be a long build as my wife insist we change the floors and have furniture first...go figure.

I'll post pics in the coming weeks

thanks

nik

What pumps do the RLSS skimmers use? I've never heard of them do you have any feedback?

Haha. im only limited by shipping and build time. The plumbing is going to go into small area under stairs so i gotta keep things neat. Here at my office i can do everything but since the wife is involved...i had to fight just to get 36 inches on the width. she also wanted super tall so I told her she has to clean it then if we went taller than 22 inches.

-RLSS uses new dc10 pumps- supposed to be good and low energy.

I would have gone leemar but they dont do rimless with that height.

i went with leemar and i ordered it through one of our sponsors here..aaron at sps coral store. talk about great customer service. it's close to me and they are even nice enough to deliver it to me which is huge because i have no way of transporting it myself. only difference is that my tank is going to be much MUCH MUCH smaller than yours. lol

Congrats on the new tank and new home! I'm in a similar boat as you but a much smaller boat (78 gallon). The wife and I just bought a house and just finished the floors. We went with a good Laminate as opposed to wood just for the tank because of the water resistance of laminate. Can't wait to see the build thread!

We were to but our flooring guy actually recommended a high end laminate over the engineered wood due to the fish tank. We just wanted to play it safe (mainly my wife, i was still game for the engineered) but I've heard've people not having problems with real wood floors and spills/leaks just got to be quick about it.

Haha gotta have some towels at the ready. my tank is rimless as well. Maybe we can do a combined build thread called David and Goliath. J/k. What are you thinking in terms of aquascape? that part has been killing me so far

That would be funny- check out this website, its basically the same tank and how i want to do my scape. nothing fancy...

http://www.rimlessreef.com

hahahaha that's hilarious..last week, i was reading sunnyx's thread on r2r because i have admired that tank ever since he broke down his old one and set that one up. even thought about ordering my tank with a blue background but played it safe and went with black. that really is a nice tank and aquascape is so natural.

DO IT!!! I really like that minimalist aquascape. really focuses attention to corals and the negative space makes the corals and fish even more pronounced. Also, i think it looks more natural.

you know it isn't even a background on his tank..he just painted the wall white and the reflection gives off the blue tint.
