Nice shop and cabinet. Could you have done the doors flush? The left side of the front looks uneven to the rest of the cabinet. Could that piece have been used as the bottom or top where it would not show? Not wanting to complain but to help. Also, is there a reason why the back does not have the header type board supported by the sides as the front does? Cherry should be able to support whatever is put on top, but this type of design would make it look like it will support much much more. I am looking for one to be built but would like it to be much higher. If the tank is 48" x 24" x 24" what is the tallest you would make the stand? I am not oppsed to having a brace to the back wall probably using a flexible strap as is used with water heaters than something rigid that will cause the tank to shake as the walls shakes. Using cherry or maple what do you think you would charge? What would it weigh?

The front of the cabinet has a face frame made from solid cherry this is to hide the
3/4" plywood wood material used to build the upper and lower frames. There are total of 12 supports which are glued, nailed and pocket screwed to each corner of the frame. Anytime we build a stand we add more support than what is needed. This stand weighs between 70 and 80 pounds and could easly hold up to a load of over 1000 pounds. The tank that is going to be sitting on this stand is a 60 gallon cube with dims of 24x24x24. As for the difference between the grains in the wood which you remarked about they will blend together when the cabinet is finished.

Hello,
A nice option is to build the bottom area where your filter sits making it so it can roll out as filter is running using casters or heavy duty glides. Using flush doors and install toe kick to bottom filter area once doors opens just pull out for access. Picture in your mind aquarium stand and filter area are not attached but once closed you can't tell.
*Vinyl hose and barbs are used to allow for this to happen:)
