I've tried anemones a couple times in the past with no luck. My last one lasted a few months, but slowly shriveled and died after adding am extra light strip. The tank is a 29 cube with Ecoxotic Panorama Pro strips, 2 50/50 and 1 blue. Most of the flow is directed at the surface, trying to make this a shoom tank with a few nems. I've added 2 bta's this past month and just wondering what the basics are to keeping nems happy? I feed them a couple my mysis every night at feeding time. I don't feel the lighting is really sufficient, plus the heavy surface agitation. Any input is appreciated :)

All the places I've readone say they require more feeding when lighting isn't sufficient. On a different note, it also says extra feedings will help them grow faster, and they're a little small.

I had a RBT and it thrived under aquaticlife led that had red or purple along with blues and whites, without any feeding. It did host a clown so it might've helped. But I would say that led was its major nutrition source. Once I switched over to Kessils then its health started to go down hill. The two LEDs are similar in wattage and the biggest difference is the red/purple bulb. So I think adding the red/purple spectrum is going to help your nems.

Stable params is key. Those ecoxotics should be enough for btas. Be mindful of keeping stable params during water changes. I think it's easy with Nano cubes to have fluctuating params bc of water changes. Stick to the same salt and match salinity.

The tank was in the toilet for quite a while. I've put a lot of effort in to getting back in shape. I do a 5 gallon wc weekly now and always get water from the same place. I gravel vac the sand really good now, I didn't do it for a long time and it caused the water quality to go down the drain. I won't be changing the lighting, I have the original canopy top on and things are finally stabilizing. I'd love to swap for Aquatic Life, but the only fixture that would fit is crazy expensive. So other than stable params and sticking with the same salt, that's it? Are they more like caring for fish than coral? The Ecoxotic leds are 48 watts total. You guys think it's sufficient even with heavy surface agitation?

Not saying you need to change LED. Was simply pointing out red/purple spectrum helped. Believe a simple red T5 bulb would work.

If feed every other day. It will grow quickly and enjoy kill your water quality. I feed my rbta Mysis with a drop of selcon, it thriving amazingly. Feeding everyday also may just be to much for the fact that it goes through a whole process very time it expels waste. Maybe just not so natural for it.

I've always spot fed my nems once every week or two but they usually end up with a few my sis from feeding fish.

I've never had a problem with the reds - rainbows or rose - even when my tank was slightly neglected, if you buy them healthy and sticky they are pretty hardy IME.
On the other hand I've never been able to keep green or acid rains healthy looking. They always shrivel and gape on me.
Mine have always been under led as well.

No, I got what you were saying. It's just that with the canopy, I can't add any more lights and T5s won't fit. I thought about swapping a 50/50 fir the the blu/magenta strip, but it wouldn't be bright enough. Plus everything is finally adapting so I don't want to change anything. I'll keep it in mind for the future though ;) I only feed them a couple mysis in the evening, but I'll switch to 2 or 3 times a week instead.

I think water parameters and flow are more important than lighting....but having only two of those exocotic led probably not enough to maintain its health and color. Nems like medium lighting and low flow. I also heard that too much feeding cause more stress for them. I fed mine twice a week and they are under kessil and T5.

After I switched from aquaticlife to Kessil, the nem moved out of the spot where he camped for months and moved all around the tank. It did that despite the flow and everything else have remained the same. So my experience is different than Eric's. I do share the experience that nems like low flow and medium flow, as the spot where my nem thrived was on the sand bed around all the LPS.

I have 3 of the Ecoxotic Pros, not 2.
