I am setting up new tank for first time. I have all my rock and water in. A friend let me borrow a Red Sea c-skim 1800. It is just a little too large to fit in the sump so I am running it externally. Problem is that it is leaking on the return line to the sump. I am thinking of getting a different one that will fit in the sump. I found one that is nearly new and was wondering how it would work for my tank.
BUBBLE MAGUS 3.5 PROTEIN SKIMMER

My tank is 85 gallon with around a 30 gallon sump. Wondering if I should try to fix the c-skim or just get a different skimmer all together. Obviously trying to keep cost down as much as possible. Thanks for your help!!

I think that skimmer is a little small for ur tank. I have the same one in my 60g, but i think its only rated for like 75g. You should try to go a little bigger if ur budget allows it

I had a Bubble magnus nac3.5 with my 55g mixed reef with 20g sump and it was too small to handle my bio load. I am running a Nac7 and that thing is sure a beast. Sometimes its too much of a beast stripping nutrients off my water hehe.

Hello,

SC Skimmers has a promo. for their 180 Skimmer @ 129.00 includes shipping eBay. Lots of forum reviews to read for information. I agree with above on the importance of a good skimmer, these kick butt for new set ups.

Good Luck!

I have to agree with SchnitzelReef and suggest an SWC skimmer. Great luck and reliability with this brand. To reiterate, you should never skimp on the skimmer as it is essential in removing excess waste before it has the chance to turn to ammonia. Just a suggestion, and depending on your bioload, SWC Xtreme 120 Cone Protein Skimmer.
