Our club frag tank is so full it's consuming about 1 dkh per day so I am having to dose but Magnesium and Calcium stay steady. Besides setting up a CARX what can I do to not have to dose alk every day?

THought about that.

Could I buffer the top off water as a temporary fix?
Yes. I did that for quite a while and it worked very well. You just have to figure out how much to buffer and regulate how much water is being replenished each day to make up for evap. Can be tricky if evap isn't the same each day and depending on how your ato is set up to work.

Why not just set up a two part doser? What is the Ca consuption? My DT uses about 1.54 dKH and 10 ppm per day...

Start with one tsp of kalk per gallon of rodi. Stir the crap out of it then let it settle. Add the clear stuff to your reservoir. It will keep up. If you wanna get fancy use the brightwells plus 2 or plus 1 can't remember the name.

I have a 5 gallon bin of kalk ill trade for a get out of jail card. Jk it's free come and get it, "I am so not a raper."

I tried using kalk in my top off water and out didn't work for me. I didn't have to dose as much alk but still had to dose a good bit daily and kalk was messy and a pain in the butt to mess with. Also really had to watch the ph so if you do decide to mess with kalk, you might consider doing it in conjunction with vinegar. But all in all, I would just start dosing alk in your ato. Much easier and more accurate!

You think so? I've heard great things about the BM pump.

But if I'm going to spend $400 on doses why not just setup another CARX?

If you get the BRS you are only spending $70. The company that makes it makes medical equipment. If I had an IV dosing me with something I'd trust the BRS over the BM.
