I'm gonna have a crew paint my living room. I don't know crap about rag technique etc. anywho, what should I be aware of while they paint my home?

What precautions should I take? I'm doing it now that its warmer and I will take the week off forcibly to watch em and most importantly the tank. Should I run the skimmer line outside, I have plastic tubing to do so? Fresh carbon? What do you guys think?

Definitely run an airline to the outside air and carbon. You might even throw a polyfilter pad in there just in case.

Use a NO-VOC paint, that would def be better. Its pricier though, shouldnt be a prob for a baller like you though. hahaaha

A Low-VOC paint would be fine just open all your windows.

i think it really depends on the paint and like mentioned above, if they are spraying it. keep all windows open and airate your house. i dont think there will be any problems unless you are using very cheap paint.

I wouldn't let them spray inside, specially with the tank inside and furniture. You will get better paint coverage anyway if they roll the paint.

+1 on zero VOC paint. Any major paint brand will have a zero VOC line. If I remember right, tinting does add some VOC's into it, so I'd still open the windows just to be safe.

So basically any color other than white will contain VOC's?

I would force cure the paint to make it dry faster that way you don't have fumes flying around for so long idiot

Unless you can find a place with zero VOC tints/pigments, the tinting process will put some VOC's into the paint. Of course the more you add, the more VOCs you're putting back into the paint. BUT in the end, it's still going to give you really low VOCs - open the windows and you won't have a problem. I've done a ton of painting with everything from white to dark - ranging from deep red to egg plant purple to straight up black - and even then it wasn't a crazy strong odor.

A week to paint? Wow who did you hire? I do paint as well. The longest it ever took for a paint job was 3 days, n thats only cause they wanted everything rolled and there was 8 different shades of colors passing through the house with soft and gradually changing color transitions.
