I have been into reef keeping for about 8 years now, but have been out of the hobby for over 5 years. I am sharing my pop's tank build. He is still in the process of gathering components but so far things are coming together nicely.
The tank, a 150g starfire glass with dual over flows. 48x24x30 Oceanic 1/2 inch thick. was originally Reefrf's tank.
Stand & Canopy-37 inches tall- Dark walnut stain really nice with starfish door knobs
We have been slowly piecing together the sump/refugium/skimmer/calcium reactor and decided to go with a Emerald Sump 39 - Trigger Systems 40g sump that's 39x16x15. It was able to fit the skimmer no problem.
The skimmer is an Octo SRO - 6000SSS. yes, it is overkill and no, my pop's wouldn't have it any other way.
Carl's Jr. cup for size reference!
sitting inside the sump.
everything together under the tank.
The calcium reactor is a Korallin c1502 calcium reactor with Eheim 1048 pump.
Lastly the lighting consists of 2 X Coralife magnetic ballast with 2 X HQI Metal hallide 14000k phoenix with 4 T-5 retrofit
He is having 200 pounds of dry rock shipped to the house this week. We will be mocking up the plumbing in the following week and will hopefully have water in the tank by new years.
