I know this question is asked all the time.. but since it's 2015 and I can't make my mind up, I decided to bring my discussion here.

I'd like to know from you guys what do you use and whether or not it's really quiet.

A lot of people were recommending the DC3000 but there is like 3+ companies that make return pumps with that model number.. Anyways, looking for something that would push around 700 GPH. Thanks all.

I bet they're all the same pump with different brand labels on them :)

Eheim, ocean runners, DC reef octopus, DC jebao are quiet pumps from my experience

I had the bigger Ocean Runner and you couldn't even tell it was running. It was zero maintenance in the 5 years I had it.

I installed a Jeabo dc6000 a few weeks back and so far I am very impressed. I know it's not the most popular pump but for $90 bucks on Amazon I figured I'd give it a whirl. I run it on the lowest speed setting in conjunction with a eshopps overflow rated at 800 gph. The pump itself can't be heard at all.

I know this is an AC pump but the Tunze silence series are exceptionally silent. I have one on my return and I can't hear it at all.

I ran several pumps from Ehiem 1262, Sicce 3.5, and Just installed my Fluval Sea SP2. The Fluval SP2 hands down quieter than my Ehiem but the flow is not as strong. My Sicce 3.5 was horribly loud that cranking up the TV volume was needed.
