I picked up about $250 worth of frags from a vendor, Mean Green Corals, a while back that was infested with red bugs. I did the iodine dip(Lugols) a couple times and each time the red bugs came back after a week. A few frags have perished and I've tried locating some interceptor with no luck. $50 for the whole lot if anyone is interested! First come first serve. Table acro is not included since it doesn't belong to me and is still red bug-free at the moment. Will be transferring it to a quarantine tank for the next couple of weeks and hope it has not been contaminated.

Sorry I do not know the names of each coral. Please PM for quickest response.

Okay, okay. So I have no real estate left in my tank but I hadn't been to Vivid's in a while and I went there this morning with zero intention of purchasing anything. So remember, I do not buy wild, but this was from a large colony they just got in, so I assume wild. He offered a mini-colony for just a little more than a small frag and I broke down and purchased it. Must have been karma for me and the frag.

And these are the steps I take before adding a frag. Certainly you start with close visual inspection.

Here is the frag in the bag:

Here is the frag out of water on its original plug

I then remove the plug from the frag and place it in about 4 ounces (half a cup) of its original water.

I then get out my Bayer and 10ml syringe (this stuff is extremely hazardous, do not touch it with your skin, well ventilated room and do not spill it.)

then add 10 ml's of bayer to the 4 ounces of water in the cup

and this is what the cup looks like with the bayer

I wait atleast 5 minutes

I get a cup of "tank" water (not from the collection bag water), so I can take the frag out of the cup of water with 10ml of bayer. Place it in good tank water. Remember do not touch frag with bayer, do not put hands into cup with bayer, use tweezers or cotton pliers. Bayer is hazardous to your health, do not let it touch your skin and do not inhale vapor.

notice brand new plug with zap glue waiting for frag. And notice about 6 minutes passed, I always wait atleast 5 minutes.

Then glue it in tank.

I have zero room for it, so I found a convenient spot for it. I will later move it to its final spot when I figure out where to place it. I left a "spacer" in this picture because the frag is so big, it wanted to fall over before the glue was set. When the zap set up, I removed the spacer.

And finally, here is the frag a few hours later. Forgot to turn pumps off before I took this picture, oops.

Teh Dah!!!!!!

Here it is.

I would also dip any places those coral were attached too. Even live rock. Redbugs are a common pest in this hobby. No need to sell your stuff. Just be a lot more careful.

I appreciate for all the info guys, but I've just been offered some interceptor from someone local. I might have a chance to save these guys after all! I'll update if I was able to get them or not. So for now, these are on hold.

Well, a fellow reefer came to the rescue! I dosed my tank a couple hours ago and looks like all the red bugs are history. I will continue to dose two more times once a week for the next two weeks just to make sure I got rid of all of them. My hermit crabs aren't lookin good though.

I wish the best karma to the reefer that helped out!

As for the sps, it would have been ALL sps except for the tabling acro. Mods please close thread! Sale has been cancelled!!!! :bump2:
