same here. chemiclean worked wonders on a couple of tanks. good quick fix while you work on the underlying problem/cause of the algae ; )

i used the ultra life one, not sure about the chemi clean but with ultra life make sure you leave your skimmer on. It will go nuts and overflow but you want to turn it all the way down, the tank needs to be aerated unless you want to add an airstone and have a bunch of salt creep everywhere! It worked great, no more red slime after 2 days.

Any horror stories out there?

I just used Ultra Life and while it's only a band aid, it is nice that the cyano is gone for now. Even the average cut needs a band aid to heal right? :) I think I got cyano from overfeeding. When I had my Moorish Idol, double my feeding to make sure it would get food and it seems shortly after, that when the cyano came. No more MI so back to normal feeding and hopefully no more cyano.

Yep uv and skimmer off it works wonders but know that if you don't identify the problem than the Slime will just come back.

I never did anything different and my red slime never came back.
aaaaaaaa but maybe you did:) lol I have no idea but if you have a problem for whatever reason and you fix it with something, most likely unless fixing the cause of the problem eventually you'll run into the problem again.

The only real problem I encountered was that the pod and other small guys population would be knocked back to almost 0 when I used it. Oh and doing two large water changes and having to change out medias was a pain as well. Looked like I was able to stay sludge free for around 5 months and would have to add another treatment.

Don't miss that doing that
