So what do you guys think we'll see in 2016 from the hobby? What kind of technological advances are you hoping for?

As for me, I think that this year Ecotech may introduce an aquarium controller to the industry. I wouldn't be surprised if they've been working on this for years like the Vectra, and that was a well kept secret. I mean, they have the R&D capability and the customer service experience. They can practically control all their products with the ReefLink. Why not expand the EcoSmart technology to probes/sensors and implements some kind of user interface to program modules like the Apex does. The Vectra pump already has a float switch sensor port.
I mean, I know it would take some heavy competition to even match the Apex since it's so advanced and well established, but maybe this EcoTech controller is more geared to the basic user who needs to control pumps, lights, powerheads, and some basic sensors like pH, temperature, etc. Maybe it'll be a controller within the Ecotech ecosystem of products because I have a hard time seeing Ecotech working to make third party lights compatible.
I would also hope that Ecotech enter the skimmer business with the use of the DC Vectra pump. It could bridge the price gap between skimmer brands like ATB and Royal Exclusiv. DC motors are quickly taking over the skimmer market and it makes sense when you can control the motor to regulate the amount of air/turbulence/etc. you want to adjust.
Oh, and another thing I look forward to is the MindStream Aquarium Monitor to come out and change the way we do water tests.
I also a rise in popularity of All-in-One solution systems like the Red Sea line in building aquariums.
That's all I can think of off the top of my head. What are your predictions?
