what do you use to calibrate your refracto

Yes but what is his fracto calibrated with? Theres usually a 3-4 point differnce between the two fluids. Fractos calibrated with water always read higher then what the sample actually is.
Well at least the salt/brine refract's which most of the ones avail in the hobby are

I use the "expensive solution" because of its consistancy (I presume), because it keeps my measurements precise and accurate.

Using my home RO/DI would be OK, but the quality of the output varies with how old the filters are, and if theres any gunk in my RO/DI storage bin, etc.

Yep reason why this came up cause I test my meter with rodi Omar took
My water home and tested and numbers were way off but thing is it's not controller environment so using solution to test both meter of
Mind tomorrow see the differece

okay you recalibrate your tanks water parameters =] then ill use your tank's water to recalibrate my refractometer =]
