It’s honestly sad to see.

Viagra adds, escort services, computer security scammer systems, crypto mining…. How many spam and scams get left alone.
I bet if I posted my wife’s onlyfans link I’d be banned in a second tho.

These forums are one of the last places us reefers can sell legitimately. Market places like facebook, OfferUp… are really cracking down on the sale of live animals. Even if we don’t see corals as the same as a cat or dog. Politician and others that aren’t in this hobby don’t see it through our eyes.
So why not offer a better service?

I get it. I like this forum as it's local and remember when it started after the bans on RC. I wish they would add some more mods so it's just not on one guy to police. I understand the workload many of us have to support family and our hobbies but if the work was shared, we could eradicate inappropriate posts or those violating rules faster.

I like this forum, especially being a good place to connect with other local reefers, but the lack of privacy and security limit what I'm willing to share here. I'm guessing it comes down to paying for these services and the lack of funding to do so? Mods, what can we do to help secure this site and make this a safe place for locals? Maybe having potential new members fill out a questionnaire before allowing them to join? Kind of like joining certain FB groups? If they can't answer some simple reef related questions, then they can't join.

I have considered moving my build thread to R2R, and have been posting more on RC as there seems to be a bit of locals there. I even see a build thread there from long time reefers. I posted my build thread here since I like supporting local reef community.

Yes, this website isn't encrypted, that's why it shows "Not Secure" in the web browser. So any information can be picked off from hackers, etc (credit card info, personal information, passwords, etc...). So if you show certain information via pictures or videos, it's open for all to see and gain information.

It would be nice to know how much money we would need to improve the security of the site and block spam. This fourm is great for us local reefers.

I like that we have an ignore button, but having to ignore 4-5 spammer accounts every time I log in for the day is tiresome. What if there was a time ban on new threads for each new account? Like a week where you cannot create new threads but can reply to other threads?

I think we should make it a minimum post count before you can create a thread, maybe that’ll cut down on some of the spam threads.

I think the admin is @EyeReef. And the only mod is @djrice69

Maybe make more people moderators who actually frequent the forum. And moderators can ban all of these spammers.

I don't really understand why the spammers want to spam a reef forum. I'm sure they are not getting any clicks.

I created new questionnaires for new registration but not effective enough to keep the spam down. I’ll def try harder but im still here! Will also take in some of the recommendations as well. I'll help out on the spam. But I'm sure admin is doing the heavy lifting as it's more of a systems issue on how to stop spammers/hackers.
