I think the spammers just use bots, so it’s just mass spamming and doesn’t cost them anything. Admin will need a stronger new user questions or captcha to block them from registering. Or maybe new users will need to post on the introduction thread before they can post in other parts of the forum…just not sure if that can be programmed.

mods can only ban those spammers that get through

I've asked the admins if we can beef up the user authentication process or security, so let's see if that is possible.

So looks like the site is secured and encrypted now. One of the admins must have done something recently, and the whole site is secured now and using the https. Previously, other members said this site was not secure and it showed a "not secured" note on the web address bar. But I confirmed with other members today, and that "not secured" note is gone. Security looks to be beefed up, and hopefully less hacking.
