I have a Solana 34 and I'm planning my future stock list. It has a stock skimmer, chemi-pure elite, uv sterilizer, and 2 koralia nanos. 20 lbs sand, 35 lbs rock. I do 15% water changes a week. Was wondering if this list is okay for a Solana 34g (in no particular order)

Fish:
Pair of Ocellaris Clownfish (Tank Bred)
3 Blue/Green Chromis
1 Firefish Goby
1 Flame Dwarf Angel Fish

Inverts:
Complete CUC from reefcleaners.org ("28 Bowfront" Quick Crew recommended by John) which includes:
28 Dwarf Ceriths
12 Nassarius
12 Florida Ceriths
6 Large & 6 Small to Medium Nerites
1 Peppermint
1 Skunk Shrimp
maybe 1 Sexy Shrimp

Here is my rockwork. There are plenty of hiding places.

Would these fish get along well? Is it overstocked considering I do 15% water changes a week? How would I go about adding the fish to the tank? My other side concern is the Flame Angel picking at my coral, any one have any success keeping one in a reef tank?

Your input is appreciated.

Its not fun to loose firefish to a open top tank they can be jumpers. I heard people having flame angels in largers reefs without issues but sometimes they pick on coral. What type or coral are you going to put in?

I think you have way too much inverts - all those snails will starve to death. Go with a tenth of what you propose. The shrimp numbers should be fine. Also, firefish are jumpers and so are most Wrasse. You might want to reconsider or put a cover over the display. Also, I have had clownfish jump, usually to the sump area in these types of tanks. The flame should be okay, but a pygmy pygmy, such as a Cherub or Flameback would be better. I have a Potter's in my 29 biocube, and he is doing well. I have Xenia, mushrooms, star polyps, and hammer, he does not touch any of it.

having to tear apart ur tank to catch the flame angel after he starts eating ur coral is NOT fun! i wouldnt risk an angel if ur gunna do coral...and i agree with gonumber, it is possible to have too much clean up crew. i had a low stocked nano and had a few snails and crabs die..only thing i could think of is they starved..

I don't think 3 chromi is a smart idea in your tank. I've seen many stories and usually all ended with there being only one left alive. As for the firefish I think that would be a great fish so long as you keep a screen over the top so they don't jump. I don't know too much about flame angels so I can't really comment there.

I'm also setting up a 34g Solana and I just finished cycling and my snails from reefcleaners should be here tomorrow. I got the 20 long quick crew which is about perfect for our sized tanks. The only "problem" with john is he doesn't know how to count so you'll end up with like 100 dwarf ceriths haha.

I'm gonna bite the bullet and go for a flame. I'm going to have my lfs get me one as close to small as possible (around 1") and just "train" him to eat only pellets, mysis, etc. I'll feed twice a day but then do more frequent water changes. Hopefully he'll "learn" he doesn't need to eat anything else cause he'll be well fed.

As for my clean up crew, we'll see what happens. If I see the tank sparse with algae then I'll supplement with algae chips. I figure with my overfeeding I'll have enough algae to go around.
