I started this adventure thinking this would be my last big tank build and I would do just a few mods that was April 2011. Now what you are looking at is what happens when a old school reefer goes insane and has a DIY overload......." some of what you are about to see is graphic parental supervision is advised:)
Here is a pic showing the size and most of the layout a few things go in place once building stops....

Notice in the above picture the Flowwolf on the wall center of DT, Their little bracket doesn't work for what I need so another DIY. Also notice the patched holes from my other manifold before adding the flow diverter repaint wall a must.

I can truly say I have built most of this build several times but each time was a great learning experience.
Here is what I am working on along with the Flowwolf...I am installing/building a 36" x 4" air driven protein skimmer on each end of my DT.
They have a two inch feed(bulkhead) and I am doubling the acrylic at the back two corners of my DT for added support.

This pic shows kind of how the skimmer will be feed from the DT there will be a gate valve between bulkhead and skimmer chambers. Another gate valve will be below that feeds close loop pump.

Well its a journey and you can come along:) This week I will pick up material needed to build two bolt on skimmer stands and a stand for the Flowwolf. This coming weekend I will build the three stands, paint them black and then paint family room wall. This will allow me to start installing all the pretty finish $hit....lol
A fun fact to date::to_pick_ones_nose3:
I have installed 17 gate valves, and 7 ball valves when completed there should be around 28 +- gate valves and 15 +- ball valves. The valves will be used to controlled not only water but also air since the whole system(everything) has been built with air back up too. The Euro Reef XRC 250 w/1262 goes on the bench I have it in sump so I don't knock it over(this is one of three skimmers on this build...this one aka back up skimmer)

Please forgive the dust construction zone:(

An official build thread. Must be getting close to actually, possibly, kinda, maybe getting this thing wet. I for one am really looking forward to seeing it come to fruition. Lmk if I can help in any way. I'd love to see it all in person. I'm sure I could glean a wealth of knowledge from you.

Working on my new MO FLOW accelerator's design and building two new designed close loop overflows for my DT.
This is a 1" adjustable jet accelerator:):thumb:

New Close Loop main line overflow:)

I left the inside white to tie in with RED, BLACK, & WHITE DT color's will make sense down the road.:a42:

With so many different DIY's with this build I spend a lot of time finding pieces to finish details.
Here I found plastic tarp hold downs to replace metal screws with my close loop overflows:)

Here is my air chamber for one of two air stone skimmer's built on each end of DT. A boss hog micro pore air stone will slide inside with bulkhead installing at bottom of skimmer:)
Skimmers will be 4" x 36" and will be feed by one of four close loop overflow's.

Skimmer cups for air skimmers 003.jpg Skimmer cups for air skimmers 002.jpg As my build was coming together I realized I had a way to control gravity flow from my main tank not being used by my standard main system overflow's. I was already building oxygen towers to achieve/keep high levels of oxygen(personal view thing) so I will be using these two skimmer's to help in this area. Along with skimming the DT with water straight from the main tank.
I have built and used air driven skimmers will great results in years past BUT if needed I have a Mint Euro Reef XRC 250 w/1262 pump as back up:)
The air driven skimmers will be 4" x 36" and be powered by Alita 40 and BOSS HOG micro pore air stones.
The skimmer cups are the large ones from SC Aquariums they build some quality products with good pricing.
