Tang aggression

Okay so I have a Philippines yellow tang thats maybe 5 inches and I added a 4 inch coral beauty. The tang is being pretty aggressive towards the angel. I know that tangs are supposed to be this way and I should know better but he was with a mimic tang before and was fine and I thought being an angel he wouldn't care. Any chance he'll cool off in a few days? I know re-scaping is an option but with my corals all molded to the rocks and the pain of that I'd rather just get rid of the tang. Any help is appreciated!

Keep them well fed and give them a few days to establish the pecking order of the tank. after that you might have to remove one if it continues.

Almost in any tank an aggressive tang will have to establish some type of pecking order. If the fish is super cut up, it most likely will not make it. If its just nipping the fins a bit, it will pass in a week.

With my PBT I know if he will just want to establish a pecking order or if he's out for blood. He acts differently. Pecking order he'll do his thing and when they run into each other in line of sight he effs with the new fish. Out for blood, the fool seriously goes nuts and spends the whole time hunting the new fish down and won't let up for a second until I take the fish out or it gets killed.

My yellow went after my scopas for a day pretty bad. Now they are best of friends. Give it a little time.

Okay I'll give it some time. The poor angel has some very minor scratches on his face from running into the rockwork. The tang will flare his fins at him for a while and then chase him for a few minutes and only stops when the angel goes into a small crevice or loses the tang.

I just checked in on them and the tang no kinda flares up and shoos him away. He doesn't appear to be dive bombing through the rocks after him anymore

Had the same issue with a lemon peel before, I tried rescaping and it never worked. I hope your situation gets better.
