really sucks but it does happen... might happen to my tank tomorrow since SCE issued possible 12 hour power outage. I have battery for the powerbeads but not the AC and it'll be 90's tomorrow here. i'm just expecting the worse for my tank.:dontknow:

Hopefully that doesn't happen. Better to always be prepared for the worst.

Thought of that long ago. I'd rather have a cold room where everyone including my fish, my fluffy old English sheepdog, my wife and I are happy rather than all of us suffering from heat only to benefit the aquarium inhabitants.

1. It generates heat.
2. It consumes as much or more electricity than the AC I use now.
3. Literally no room to put the chiller, already pushing it with the ATO reservoir.

I think my best choice is to be able to control my AC from my mobile phone and be able to program it just like I do with the Apex. It'll be cheaper and it makes more sense than having to buy a chiller.
I have a wifi thermostat , Sensi thermostat. Cost about $100.
I can monitor and control my AC in my house from anywhere

If I were you I would get a power inverter from frys and a few deep charge used batteries. 1 battery will be able to run a fan and your return for for about 5 hours. Make sure you freeze some 2 liter bottles to put in your sump mid way through. They will stay frozen in your freezer as long as you don't open it. It's manageable if you are prepared

Thanks! This helps a lot. What is a good wattage for the inverter? The only thing i have is battery for powerhead, and an airstone and crossing my fingers. Lol. Thank you!

I use my room ac to cool down during this summer time. use Nest and keeping the thermostat at 80. luckily it's in a dark hallway so no direct sunlight. My first summer with the reef tank, I wish the hot weather over soon.
Seems we will get high temp again starting next Tue
