Hi all, so my complex is slated to be tented and fumigated in mid June :(

I've been doing a bunch of research and it seems like the best method is to tarp the whole tank, turn off lights and leave everything else running (possibly with the return pump off) and run the skimmer air intake to the outside world. This will draw in fresh air to the tank expanding the bubble which will have a small hole/slit to allow the fresh air to push outwards keeping the pesticides out.

I wanted to see if anyone else had first hand experience with this process and what did/didn't work? Also what did you guys do with all the various chemicals, test kits, additives etc should they be bagged or removed also?

Thanks!

My buddy whos a fumigator says its about 50/50 with fish tanks.... when it happened to me I moved the entire tank to my parents house.

ive also heard of people tenting the tank and hookingnup a van/pump to it to kerp the tank under positive pressure... but again best of luck

Thanks for the info and positive thoughts...my plan for now is to enclose the entire tank in a bubble and leave everything running except my skimmer and lights.

how big is your tank?

I broke everything down, moved to temp setup and lost substantial coral. If needed next time, would find a friend LFS to house stock or frags where possible. As H0ndap suggests sealed with positive pressure in/out to outside airlines......

With a tank that size I would transfer it to another location. It might be a pita but at least it's not a large tank build. Alsi you will have a 80% chance not killing your live stock compared to 50/50 chance leaving it for fumigation
