I am done fighting with you. I will let the readers decide for themselves. I asked for references for your concoction and you came back quoting 40-45 year old references for a metronidazole dose. I guess in your mind, medicine and science do not progress over 40-45 years. I hope they do. But for now I currently believe that their is no effective treatment for marine ich in a display tank that is reef safe. I hope I can be proven wrong.

One thing that I don't think was stressed enough is water quality, I had a outbreak and fed metro+ and did constant small water changes and all the fish survived in my main tank. I was advised to feed the fish well so to give them the energy stores to fight off the infection.

I've also done the QT tank with Copper, worked great, but was a pain to manage all the fish in a small tank, water quality wash had to manage in a small tank

I am in the 5% that was not successful with the recipe. All the fish were eating like pigs but they started dropping like flies 2 weeks into it. My water parameters are great but I must have some nuclear strain of ich. I am now setting up a QT tank and going fallow for 10 weeks. I have heard great things about the recipe. I think it works for a lot of people but there is still a chance it does not. Good luck.

What happened in your tank to cause a flare up? Did you add a new fish or did something major happen to stress the fish out?

Is it fair to look at Ich like Herpes? It seems that many people have or have had ich in their tanks and have had fish live for years without any problems. Until one day something triggers a flare up. People live with immune deficiency diseases every day and as long as they take their medicine, stay healthy or whatever they are fine. They live with it but can't get rid of it. But they are not necessarily physically bothered by it everyday.

One the flip side if you qt and medicated all fish and never saw ich in your tank. Is it now "impossible" for your fish to get ich? Is there a strain of Ich that can live thru medication treatments?
I swear I medicated my Pyramid Butterfly with parizipro and he was put into my tank that was started with dead rock but live sand fresh out of the bag. The tank ran fallow for 4 months while cycling. Everything brand new and not even any used equipment and the **** thing still got ich...
Maybe it was my qt process as I didn't use copper but it seems strange to me.

This is why I don't sweat ich. Its in my system but fully under control. I keep good water, a variety of food and supplements to keep up the fishes immune system. Everyone is great and healthy. Even with my last heater issue and temp spike I was expecting to see a small outbreak. Nothing at all. I did the qt fallow thing 3 times and still had it come back. After that I stopped worrying about it

i don't know if it was Robert's concoction that filed my blue hippo, or that it's just a f'n pig and worked through it, but there were several days, where i thought the hippo was a definite goner.

belly was fully and moving fine, but it had spots EVERYWHERE, even a few on the eye.

now, it's just a healthy fat hippo that keeps going at it with the yellow.. >_>

You don't think that you could have in ich free tank if you follow a strict QT process? The qt process would go for everything, fish, coral, and inverts, basically anything new that would go into the DT would have gone through a qt period.
