I definitely see your point. I guess I am being an optimistic and hoping that this will encourage more members to be engaged and more incline to post. But only time will tell. I think I will try it out for a few weeks and if it does become a problem, I will change the rules to what you suggested. Thanks for your input.

Ok the sump forum is an idea and I understand why it's being done. My problem is with the 1k hidden rule. I truly think by putting this 1k rule in effect is only going to encourage a lot of non sense posting. So people can get to 1k. I believe your going to see an inflation in posts like, "++++1 what he said" from a lot of new comers. I would get discussed with this board to see nothing but a full page of 1 lined commits. Now for me I don't care about how many posts some one has but more about if the post have meaning and substance. I rarely post stupid posts. I spend maybe 2 hours a day lurking in the background here a day and when I see some I want to commit to I do. Their a few people in the past that I refused to do business with (buy/sale) just because I didn't like the way they used this forum. I would hate to see rules be put in place here that turned me off other forum. I think most of use love this place because it is the way it is. Come we all joke around and bs. You can't tell me that when your hanging out with your buddies someone isn't being called gay or some type of derogatory name. I don't think one clucking hen should mess things up for the rest. What is this the FCC coming down on SCR.

I think if "the sump" is going to stay around, then instead of The 1k posts rule it should be based on time as a member of SCR.

I for one have a long way to go. I can see how easy it is to get to 1k but I don't post that much. I think I'll end up with a bunch of +++1 because I don't see how else I'm going to get there. I'll try though. I would love a waiver to play with the big boys lol

Who cares about the sump anyways. If you don't have the required post then just kick rocks. Everyone has had alot of time to post meaningful post or not before "the sump" came online.
If anybody want to be invited into the "sump" then you know what needs to be done.

one thing is that we're trying to figure out a way to keep out minors and other people that might get offended... say, newbs, kids, family accounts that hardly ever post will go in there and complain about what goes on... that's what the admin does not want... also, keeps the shenanigans and derailing out of the real threads that are reef related...

one option a long time ago was to make another forum... but i didn't want to make a second forum just so we could shoot teh chet among friends... we do that in person already... LOL...


i didn't think many people would feel isolated of left out... i just hope that the complaining doesn't grow and most members end up losing this small privilege...
