Just got back. Not sure I will go again. Too crowded, difficult to see coral, prices high and no different from local fish stores, so what is the point? Just saying.

I don't even have a tank and I'm going. I mainly want to see what's new out in the hobby, hang out with reef buddies and drink some beers. If you want the deals go back tomorrow. Around 2pm there will be LOTS of deals.

first time going and I enjoyed it. It was fun, I agree it was really crowded. also agree that the prices were high, I wasn't coral hunting so I didn't mind it all, just more reason not buy coral. I did pull the trigger on a new tank set up though :)

on a side note thought it was pretty stupid to set up a tent about a product then tell me I can't buy it....happened it at caribsea. The guy spent 15 minutes telling me about a product then tells me I can't buy it.

One positive is you can get at all the different lfs at one spot without wasting gas driving around. Meeting people who enjoy the hobby just as much as you do. The fact that it's so crowded is a great sign for the hobby as well =). That being said first day is usually the most crowded and late Sunday is the best time to get "deals".

I had a good time, but yea it was really crowded making it hard to see the corals. It does suck that the big vendors won't sell you product at the show but I can also understand why that is.
I will probably go next year as well for the hell of it

Ya, it was crowded, and stacked 3 deep in front of most frag tanks. I did get a good deal on a couple if Hydor pumps, and picked up a few frags. So overall not to bad.

I am still here and i had a great time so far. Talking to lots of fellow reefers is why I come. I got some cool stuff. Nothing real special in the sps category. I don't thing most people come expecting to find great deals. This isn't the swap meet, that's next door.

This place was packed. Maybe too much for some peoples comfort but it shows how many people are in the hobby. Also shows how this show is the best. I heard there was about 3,000 people just today!

I like how everything was evenly spread out.

Definitely a lot of people and more vendors than ever. I will say this, I really think the venue is the best fish/coral show ever.

But I will say more, the economy has made the collector pieces less available in my eyes. I will also admit that my first goal was to reconnect on a geek level and second to look at coral.

Anyone who is in the hobby would be a fool not to go to this show.

haha... I never thought of it that way "geek level"... but that's why I was mad I couldn't make it. I wasn't too interested in the corals for sale but because I wanted to connect on that "geek level" ... LOL makes me laugh to say it.

I forgot to mention the tanked guys. I am sorry, but celebrating these guys like some sort of celebrities in this industry makes me sick. They clearly do not represent the best in our hobby, watch the show, and the people lining up for pictures with them and wanting autographs shows the superficiality of many in our hobby. The line of people waiting to get their picture with them was ridiculous. These guys treat fish like commodities, again watch the show, and most of the builds they do do not exist after the show. We should boycott these guys and not give then any respect.

Lol. Yea, I just ignore them when my wife asking what's going there. I told her, the pool cleaner trying to sell pool product at reef show.

This was my first show and went alone.. thank god cuz the wife would have stopped me from buying anything. I will go next yr and bring the fam, I think my kids will love it. Ill go sunday instead just for the deals. I did get my first frag of Acans tho..hip-hip! Also, I did speak w an Ecoxotic guy and he told me they're coming out w a led controller that does everything from cloud coverage to dusk and dawn settings to whatever else u need (no lightning) comes w a nice remote and display screen. Thought that was pretty cool especially for under 50$$!! Comes out in Nov. Which was a bummer I wanted it today!! Other than that..yes it was crowded!

Just got back with my friend Ashley. First time for both of us and it was great to see all the variety and have something to strive for when our bigger tank goes online with the calcium reactor and can keep sps (currently a 12g nano with pretty terrible circulation and filtration)

It was great to see crystal and bogdan(sp?) and get some reassurance on the korallin reactor I bought :)

And yeah, Wtf @ Caribsea booth and no sales.

Won't be going back tomorrow, but not because it's not fun. It's because the 12g nano is literally at capacity. I need to get the 100g online ASAP.

Also, I know the tanked guys get a lot of flack from the "hardcore" reefers, but I have to say, those guys were very friendly and pretty cool. I think it's pretty cool that they're bringing some positive attention to the hobby.. Waiting a month to cycle the tank and qt'ing the fish probably wouldn't play very well on TV :p
