So should I get a skunk cleaner shrimp?

I love their color and personality but I have a few LPS and we all know that cleaner shrimp are notorious for larceny and I’m not sure I want the added work of covering my LPS during feedings.

If your goal is to have a cleaner for fish, then I would look into the Elactinus group of gobies (Neon, Sharknose, etc), they are by far the best cleaners out there. Cleaner shrimp are always 50/50 when it comes to being food thieves, especially with LPS.

If you give your tank a small feeding, then spot feed, I think you're safe most of the time (by distracting the cleaner shrimp), but is also depends on the tank size. I can get away with that in my 210 gallon, and I'm assuming you're looking to add them to your big tank too.

Fire cleaner might work. Mine stays under its arch until feeding time, spot feeds well and then leaves the LPS alone. I understand they are a bit more shy.

If you plan to spot feed on a regular basis I think the shrimp will annoy you. Mine will always pick the food out of the LPS mouths and it's not gentle about it.

I have a cleaner shrimp, even though it’s nice and everything but super annoying when I have to spot feed my corals
