i have had some flame tips get sick and almost die... when they are growing back their tentacles they look like normal RBTA... seems to me that it will turn back to a flame tip... but... the base turned a different color... that's strange to me...

only time will tell...
Mine is going thru that stage tight now..

Have you ever seen this before????
I have a Flame BTA, and a RBTA, and when they met, I noticed that the RBTA was beating the Flame BTA up, I was confused? I thought Nems didnt fight
Anemones can tell the difference between themselves and other species, and they can also distinguish between a clone of themselves and an anemone of the same species that is NOT a clone. In some cases they won't care. But in some cases (certain coldwater species for example) they are EXTREMELY aggressive towards one another.

I have never seen two BTA's going after each other, and I would have thought the likelihood would be low - I have seen lots of BTA's of different color morphs hunkered down together on reefs all the time. But you never know... maybe they didn't like each others' attitudes? :)
