I have a MASSIVE algae problem in my kid's 10 gallon... I know it looks really bad, but I let it go for a few days longer because I wanted to show you guys what it looks like..

What kinda algae is it and no matter how good i clean it always comes back, how do I solve this problem?

KEEP in mind, this tank is just cycling... It has been cycling for a month or two, we just have 3 damsels and 2 starfish in it right now... I eventually want a clown pair + anemone.

also I had this algae last month.. it went away but now I have the sand type.. WTF?!?!?!?!

Although it grows in areas of less flow the main problem is your tank has a ton of excess nutrients. Although its a bacteria, it grows and consumes those nutrients and grows.

Since you have nothing in the tank really I would say go ahead and try the red slime remover but it will just come back if you don't take care of the root problem.

My main tank had tons of flow and when I was having a P04 and Nitrate problem it was out of control everwhere just like yours. I just stepped up water changes, GFO, and sucked it out with a little diameter vinyl tube. Smallar the better as it gives you more time to get it without emptying your tank off all the water as with a larger siphon tube.

Do you have a skimmer or carbon running on that tank?

I put a little rowaphos in a media bag and put it in the overflow chamber of my nano and it took care of it. And +1 on more flow koralia nanos should be about $20 new.

I like the mp40 but that might be too conservative. I'd try a mp60! ;). I had a nano koralia in my 30g and the flow sucked...but for a 10 it's prolly perfect. Just make sure u get the biggest one,

It's flow & or feeding to much/too much nutrients
