Usually it's LE because it has very nice colors and no names do not, so its worth the $60 for a frag of something nice.

The choice is always beauty. However, LE is almost always tank raised, and as a result hold their color, have good survival--in other words, it is going to live, thrive and look good. Most no namers colonies are mariculture and therefore generally do not hold their color, poor survival and $60 bucks down the drain. I have spent a bunch on beautiful frags and colonies that are mariculture, looking for the newest watchguy123 LE but I don't have a lot to show for it. I try to stick with tank raised and there are a whole bunch of spectacular LE frags out there. Just don't tempt me with a maricultured beauty though, I just might buy it.

I'll tKe the frag unless you see some nice colors in the colony. More than likely if it's already being sold for $60, it won't have any nice color to it. Most wild pieces have turned green with blue tips. Nice but it's too bland and common in my tank

I my self have bought my share of the mariculture and wild colonies. Wild colonies from Australia that look spectacular usually return to their glory (maybe 60% of the time). Now Indo wild (maybe 15%.)

grab your reef mufs; nice Indo mariculture that retain a good aquarium color is more like 5-10% max in the survival level. That is worth keeping. Most are what you call, "nothing special." And by that I mean if they do
Come back to glory they are super finicky about any swing. I currently have 3 frags of Indo mariculture in my tank for over a year with lots of trimming and replanting. I have 3 colonies of Australian wild frags and mini colonies that look and act like champs.

I wasn't around the wholesale circuit for to long but at this point I know what will live and what will be $$$. That being said, I still get reef wood when I see a large wild colony with super color and rarity. Dang collectors with $$$$ ruin it for us small time collectors.
