What salt do you use? I've been using the TM Pro salt, but it's $120 per bucket for 200 gal. I'm aiming to do SPS dominant.

TM Pro is a great salt, mixes clean and spot on. But is it really that much better than Instant Ocean purple bucket? It's $50 at Petco for 160 gal.

IO is also pretty close, maybe a tad lower in calcium/mag and high on alk. Anyone run regular IO purple bucket that is SPS dominant?

Or am I just being cheap and should even try to save some money on salt?

I don’t really do water change on my system. The only time that I do water change on my system is when I am doing treatment on it and when I do I have a bucket of Red Sea blue bucket on hand.

I use IO purple bucket on my nanos including the one with clams/sps. Not sure if this counts as SPS dominated or clam dominated or what. But it's 20 gallon so 'dominated doesn't need much by anything

I also use TM Pro and stock up during sales. I typically get the 200 gallon bucket for around $100, but got a couple last year for $90 at petco.

I store my salt for weeks at a time and also like that my container stays pretty clean. I wish the alkalinity was a bit higher though.

I typically use IO, RC and more recently TM. Depends on what I find on sale or through the forums. I miss the days where I could order the 200g box of RC on amz for $40 delivered or 160g bucket at petco for $40 on sale. I've found that as long as you keep your params (and trace elements) steady that it doesnt matter, at least for me. between the above salts I don't notice any difference and sometimes I mix salts between batches. My SPS dominant tank seems happy.

I’m with you on this one but have since traded TM Pro’s clean mix/container for the higher alk of RSCP. Both served my use cases quite well.
