I work in Culver City and live in Valencia so I do the 405 route everyday and it is a ***** of a ride. Any LFS right off the 405 with good prices?

Indeed I stock up on the 200g boxes of regular instant ocean whenever they are on sale. Chad hooked it up last time. I have 5-6 boxes right now but always need more

I prefer RSCP, but willing to try TMP if there is good review on it. RSCP really is the best salt I used so far.

really u dig the high dkh on the rscp? I didn't like the fact that if it over mixes it precipitates (cant be mixed warm or over 2 hrs ) I tried it once at the shop and it was cloudy and never cleared so I never used it again

I've been using the Instant Ocean (regular) from Chad for months now. Tank is looking great. I've been keeping my alk about 7.5.

the only issue I had with instant ocean doesn't really reflect on the quality of the product but I would break out in a rash if I used any instant ocean salt , a bad rash . no other complaints about the salt I had used it for yrs when I worked for a service company but had to use the long corallife gloves when mixing the salt , I don't use it just for that reason

i like D& D salt but i can mix a little dirty , some time with a brown film but over all a very good salt, for fish only i would recommend Oceanic mix well pretty clean and works well in fowler and fish only systems, some of the hardcore coral guys i hear like to use the regular red sea salt , i know JW from Age Swears by it . coral life is ok takes some time to mix and isn't too bad but i rate it low.

hmm depending on the size of the water change would determine the spike but that influx has to be hard to keep color and growth consistent

1. My tank is always 7.6-7.2 dKH, if I don't dose, it'll drop to 6.5 range. 10% water change should bring my back up in the 8.7 range, then I'll let it drop slowly with 2 week change =D.
2. I never use warm water, always room temp. Since my tank is always around 79F, it'l bring my tank back down into the 76F =D.
3. I mix 10 gallon at a time with power head blowing, and dumping 1 cup every 10 minutes. No precipitates at all.

Since you keep your alk on the low side based on your thread the other day I would use a salt closer to your target parameters to make the swings less drastic.
IDK why, my tank is not heavy stock at all. Just like 8-9 LPS, 5 SPS, and 6 fish. Alk drop like 0.6 every day >.> I rather starting to do 5 Gallon water change a day, since it's cheaper then buying alk + Calc.
