No idea what happened, mp60 was only running for a few hours. It appears something melted, it totally froze the impeller.

shouldn't have happened if it was under water... if it was run out of the water for a while, it could have melted it like that...

The plastic on the dry side in the correct setting
What plastic setting? I read the manual again and it only says to rotate the wetside to balance if excessive vibrations are heard. I did this and the pump was running silent.

this happened to my mp40s

the shaft started not to turn freely, so the metal nut (that sits in the round magnet) that holds the drive shaft eventually melted the teflon washer. after that it was metal on metal as the nut gound the base. eventually the shaft-magent-propeller assembly stopped spinning.

I think it was due to improper re-assembly of the wet side after thorough cleaning. the plastic nut between the propeller and outer housing was mis-tred and then overtightened the shaft.

long story short, I sent it to Ecotech and the sent me a free replacement wetside. I always have a spare anyway, so I wanst down any time.

Ecotech was very helpful.

They just asked for a copy of the original purchase receipt with the date. even though I bought my 2 MP40s in mid-2009.

They fed-exed my replacements in 1 week, free return shipping.
