Ok, so I am currently the controller (and not very good at it) and maybe I should get an electronic controller. Which one would you guys suggest. I only want to do this one time and not upgrade later to a newer or better system.

Get the Neptune systems apex. That is the best one in my opinion. Easy to program, easy to use, reliable.

I agree. I have the d.a. reefkeeper lite system I bought it due to price and already need to upgrade. By the time all upgrades are done I could of just bought the apex with everything. Even if you don't need all the bells and wistles now, trust me within the first year you will. Better to pay the money up front then upgrade later and pay more

After reading a lot about the Jebao pumps ive noticed the reef angel mentioned a couple times. It's supposedly more programmable and cheaper in the long run, although not as fancy and user friendly. You might want to read up on them in your search for a controller

Apex. I owned a Reef Keeper Lite for about one and a half years and decided to upgrade. Over that time, the Reefkeeper was sometimes a pain to program and the manual wasn't the greatest. The Apex at first was daunting at first, but if you spend some time reading the manual, it makes a lot of sense. And it's a whole lot more flexible than the Reefkeeper. Controlling your tank from your computer and phone is the greatest!

Just buy new. I bought mine and don't regret it. I am usually the guy hunting for that used deal. Unfortunately when a used Apex comes up for sale, it's usually gone within a few hours. Get the full apex with a ph probe (one for ur calcium reactor, and one for your tank. Im assuming u already have one ph probe, u can use that one with ur apex). U might want to look into an extra EB8, that's the only upgrade u might want. Maybe just an eb4, if u only need a couple more plugs.

Great thread...I'm leaning towards ReefAngel simply because I'm cash strapped. I love that RA has cables for the WP40 and Kessil 360s... APEX only has cable for the 360 but not the the wp40. Plus...you get more out bang up front with the RA base package. 280'sh for the display, 8-outlet energy bar, temp AND pH probe, plus 2 ato switches...can't beat that. Also the expandables and probes are way cheaper than apex...solid support from RA forums and custom request. For a budget minded consumer (who likes to tinker with stuff...DIY) the choice is easy... but if I had had 400-450 to spend on a new APEX system of comparable features...APEX hands down.

To control the WP-40 and I assume the WP25 with the apex its not that hard. You will need a little DIY but its not that hard from what I have seen. I want to do mine but I am going to wait for my WP25's to come in to see which ones I want to use on my tank.

and Mark, get the Apex full version, new if you can unless you see a smoking deal on a used one. Just make sure all the outlets work if you buy it used.

http://www.neptunesystems.com/control-freak/

Read how the winner has set up a bunch of features not typically
Set up by most reefing people. Including ways to control ph and phosphates. Very interesting to say the least.

Just read through and I gotta upload the new software/firmware and set up a cam just for the tank.

Buy now. There's a lot of sites with 10% off for Memorial Day. I bought my Apex during the Black Friday deals and they didn't exclude the 10% like some other sites say.

Apex. I had issue at first but cannot express how dedicated the customer support is at Neptune.

That would be great if Apex supported the wp40's and wp25 (I'm currently in your GB juan). The other option I may go is to buy a brand new APEX head unit (full) for 250... then slowly add the probes and eb8 as funds allow...but hey..its an APEX... so I'm considering this option as well...

i started with the RKL and now have apex

Challenging to setup at first but I am slowly getting the hang of it. Great to be able to control your tank remotely with an iphone!
You can also add multiple options and have redundant fool proof systems.
