I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet but... pouring salt into your tank without premixing with RODI is a bad idea. All of your livestock will probably die.

Yeah good idea. If you can't remove easily a vinegar bath is in order.

i did the same thing you did when i made water for my old tank. might want to run a powerhead facing the affected area first before you start scraping but if that dont work use the kent pro scraper. the metal one they sell for glass tank.

Oh yeah. Did I mention its a bad idea to add salt straight into your tank? Hahaha.

I had a 55 gallon drum next to my tank. I didn't let it sit long but I made 15 gallons and pumped it straight into my tank. Didn't have any issues. Maybe it was too little to matter. Or maybe the pump circulating for 5 minutes did the job. Who knows

lol @ first post/s

@ second one Ok just got a metal kent marine pro works but some affected places seems too hard to scrape off will try it after the tank gets heated maybe this will work. if all else fails Vinegar bath is in order like Cody suggested

Let me know when you scrape it off. Ill sell it as meth. Hahaha good luck ben. Maybe turn your heater on max. Maybe it'll dissolve. Or throw in a baby horse so it could lick it all off.
Will def try it I just put the heater to 93. max.

Dear Benjamin

The white residue you have found on the glass is more than likely a little calcium carbonate precipitate.
This can occur if you mix the salt into a new tank too quickly and the salt builds in mounds and precipitates
locally.

This is totally harmless and will clear once it flocks due to bacterial action once live rock has been added.
More information can be found at the links below:

With regards to scratching the glass any precipitate attracted to the clean glass will be much softer than glass
and very chalky so it wont scratch.

I can only advise you check your algae scraper for foreign objects. It is quite normal for aquarium manufacturers
to clean of small areas of silicone with fine wire wool. If they haven't cleaned the aquarium out before shipping
it's possible tiny pieces of steel wool have stuck to your magnetic cleaner so please check the cleaning surfaces.

Hope this helps
Tony
