I dosed my tank with chemi clean to take care of a yano problem. Well, it worked for the most part but my skimmer is going nuts. It's been a week since the treatment and a 20% water change and the skimmer is still nuts.
I put it some carbon to see if it will help. How long should it take for the skimmer to get back to normal?

Sidewinder: let a little of the water to come out before it reaches the cup. Thereby allowing a lot of that turbulent foam to subside.

Ill try the 1/2 water changes tomorrow. I'm making up a fresh batch of water right now. Should the carbon be helping out too? Can you put "too much" carbon in a reactor?

Chill out man. It may take 3 water changes to get that stuff out. It goes away in a good 8 days. Dont feed much, especially your coral. I would do 3 30% wc's . This is where that free NSW from New Port comes in handy.

What type of skimmer? Do you have a gate valve? I just backed my GV off a quarter turn... two days later I had it turned back to it's original position and it was skimming fine.

If you don't have a gate valve is it possible to toss a couple pieces of egg-crate under the skimmer to raise it up a bit?

Personally I'd go easy on the major water changes and the carbon.
