I mixed ocean pure pro salt with RO/DI and we sell about 200 gal per week, I personally use ocean pure salt at the store and there is no issue that I know off.

Many of my customers are using ocean pure salt and I haven't heard any bad feedback.

Hope you find the source of the problem.

best thing about that salt is it is dirt cheap and thats about it
So if it was expensive would that make it better???? If it was priced higher than everything else (such as Tropic Marin) would you be ranting and raving on how great it is? The stats on Oceanpure are great IMO.

I have used the salt, my corals dont really like it, but they are spoiled with Tropic Marin Pro. Or maybe it's just me.

I highly doubt the salt led to algae issues.

check your TDS.
how old is you RO membrane?
what the reading of phosphates in the tank?
are u using phosphate remover?
you could be overfeeding?
How old is the tank?

there are many issues that can lead to algae outbreaks

yeah i seen those generic results a bunch of times, but i dont go off what other peoples test results are, i go off of my own and what my corals like.
i have tried ocean pure before and i had some issues, nothing major but i was not happy then i switched to d&d about 6 months ago and my corals are loving it
this is just my opinion, if you are having sucess with via aqua salt, more power to you.........

that is true, as long as you are happy with your tank and the salt works, dont change it.

what kinda algae are you getting? How often do you do a water change and how large of a percentage of your water volume? How long are you lights on for?

Bulkreefsupply sells phosphate remover for a cheap price. Its GFO (granular ferric oxide). Its basically overpriced rust with a specific density. Tom at socaltropical fish now carries bulkreefsupply so id recommend getting some GFO from him! Also you need a media reactor to run the phosphate remover.

Sea monster - Adding some phosphate remover is not going to solve your problem. Brown algae comes from diatoms which bloom from adding silicates to your tank. The only things I can think of is your ro/di. How old is it? Your RO membrane might be leaking silicates into your water. Typically RO membranes last for 3-5 years. Maybe try getting water from a different source?

How often do you change your filter sock? Its always best to try and change them as often as possible. I do it every other day.

Did you add sand recently to your tank? Adding sand to an existing tank will usually lead to brown algae. :)

No doubt about Rowa phos is the best. My second choice would be some bulk gfo from brs from Tom lol.

Tony - That media reactor you have is awesome, its huge!
