Would pulling out a bully fish and reintroducing it work when adding new fish?

Ok so I have a PBT that's a straight a$$. Any fish remotely similar in shape and he will beat the crap out of it. I do want to add a few more fish and have heard that if you remove him and put him on time out in the sump while introducing the new fish, then he will be a lot less aggressive to the new fish. Anyone ever try this? if so did it work?

I've heard the pbt is the last fish that goes in...also needs to be the smallest...

I did the same with my lieutenant and blue tang they seem less aggressive but will still bother the others. You would need to sump him for a month or so but it can stress him out....

I would sell him, the last time I had a PBT I put him in a 20 gallon he got stressed, got ich and later died...

Yep^ to me. You can try time out. Once pecking order is established it should fit in. Worse case scenario your fishing him out again and selling him.

Well I guess I can give it a shot but he's my favorite fish still. So if it doesn't work then the newbie fish will either be heavily discounted or given away to a fellow reefer. I'm keeping the a-hole. haha

You can also try a socialization box, let the tang see em but not touch em. That worked for my 2 pairs of clown fish.

PBT is a nice fish and hard to find one that likes tank life. Ur pushing ur luck as it is. Why risk losing the fish??

I'd try any other means besides taking him out.
