Hey all, finally got the approval to GO BIG. I'm looking to purchase a 4'2'2' peninsula (white stand with side overflow). Ideally rimless. I've got my eye on a Red Sea Reefer Peninsula 500, but I feel like they could drop in price any minute (given Red Sea's current sales for a number of their other tanks) so I haven't pulled the trigger yet. I'm not attached to Red Sea and would entertain completely custom. This tank will only be set up a maximum of two years, so I'm leaning towards Red Sea just because it seems easier to sell when I eventually move. Note: if I went Red Sea, I would not get their lighting kit.
I've looked at a custom quoted Planet Aquariums and Ellis Aquatics has offered to facilitate that sale, but a rimless is ~8 weeks turn around. Plus I'm balking a little at the massive undertaking to design the whole thing (overflow, plumping, sump etc.) I've learned a ton from my 22g cube/sump - but again a prebuild sounds like the easiest approach (even if Red Sea's sump is less-than-ideal.)
Any thoughts or suggestions?
