What causes coraline to bleach? Just random small patches bleach. Especially all my pyramid snails. For some reason my pyriamid snails always bleach. Any ideas? Not that big of a deal but I had to ask. Happened twice now. Is it a calcium thing? My calcium is kind of low. 330-360.

Wow cool guys and/or gals. My mag is now fixed at 1350. Phosphate and alk good.

If asterina starfish causes random bleaching then that is to blame. I do have an abundance of those suckers. In the last 3 months I introduced some from a few big rocks I put in. They multiplied to probably 300+. Got me a pair of harlequins a few weeks ago and instead of eating the asterinas they ate my big sand sifter.

Well of course they went for the big star. Next time put the star in the fuge. They will now start eating the other stars

If its small white marks I believe it can be asterinas or another CUC. But if its larger areas not having super tight alkalinity will be the culprit.

Chemistry change in the water can cause bleaching and other problems. Stability is key.
Lighting can also cause bleaching. High PAR values mostly when lights are replaced.
