wonderful tank...I would love to see how it goes
Thanks! Its gonna be a long process but heres a slight update.. I picked up a couple 400 watt MH 20,000k lamps and had a weak attempt of some rockscape yesterday. Very difficult to do since my fish room is on the opposite side of the display.. That and the 36" depth makes it very difficult to visualize without getting down and going around about 50 times. I have around 450 lbs of live rock and I'm thinking I need around another 100 or so to get my scape where I want it.

I've purchased a lot of fish so far and a bit of coral but had a softball sized elegance die off a couple weeks ago so I'm kinda holding off for now.. a few of my smaller fish have ended up in my filter socks because they like to hang out by the overflow at night and they end up getting sucked through... Needless to say that a 4500 gph pump is to powerful for them to survive the flow in the sock..

More pictures in the next week when I add some more rock..

I found these funny early pics that my wife took of me during the setup about 4 months ago.. It took about 8 hours inside the tank to get it buffed out before adding sand, rock, and water..

Finally getting a minor update. Its been a slow slow slow process but heres where i'ts at so far..

I finally got walls and flooring in the fishroom and hopefully I'll be setting up my new qt tank and 48x24" frag tank in the next week or so..

That empty wall is where the frag tank will go on a custom built stand plumbed directly into my sump. Above will be the 20 gallon qt tank mounted on the wall on a steel stand bolted to the wall. I got one for a good deal that was for breeding purposes with 5 sections so that should work well. It will have a dedicated sump, skimmer and uv just for qt.

Not much to look at since my last update but I have slowly acquired a few more corals. I took this picture within 15 minutes of firing up the lights so not everything is opened up in pictures but its slowly getting there. I've definitely made up my mind about going sps dominant though.. Seems hard to find larger colonies though like im looking for. All lfs seem to just carry small frag sizes, if anyone knows where I can get larger colonies at least softball size let me know..

Looks great, lots of potential with that size tank. Were you able to find all the slab rock that you were looking for? Coral Oasis in Costa Mesa has a decent selection of slab and a bunch of other LR too

I have some curing right now, but still need about another 50lbs I think to get what I'm really looking for.. I wish I would have been more patient and done a foam and epoxied scape while dry but I was too anxious to get the tank running.. I'll definitely have to check out coral oasis tho since i'll be down that way all of next week..

Sweet set up!!! To mix the salt, is there a pump inside the container? And the cone/cylinder at the lower reservoir is where the salt would go in?

I first pour a 55gallon red sea pro salt mix in the funnel. (I dont use the larger buckets because it takes the guessing out of measuring, I use the small ones so its exactly one per batch.) I have an external iwaki pump for mixing salt for 24hours previous to my water change.. I usually pour salt in on friday evening and let it mix until saturday night when I do my water changes every week. I find it the easiest way to keep the water quality very high without having to do much of anything else.

Very impressive and very nice tank. I noticed you don't have access in the front of the tank, as well very limited head room in the back on top of the tank. How difficult is it to clean the panels, especially the front display?
