A mistake made and a lesson learned

Hob protein skimmers and power outlets seem to have a distaste for one another

I got it when I got the tank back in april, its a reef octo classic 1000 hob, and this isnt the first time its overflowed just the first time it got past the drip loop. All the critters and equipment miraculously came out unscathed so im pretty thankful for that.

Oh that’s really frustrating. Have you looked into getting an overflow box and sump to avoid this issue

I have, but since its an all in one I decided to use that. Might try to find a really skinny skimmer lol

Definitely on the smaller side, only a 29 gallon. That was the other reason I decided against a sump

That skimmer is too big for your tank. Probably have challenges with consistency. Try the many nano skimmers out there. Tunze makes really good ones.

Ill take a look at those. This was the skimmer the guy I bought the tank from had and I've been too lazy to get a new one lol

Check out the tunze 9001 or 9004. They’re great skimmers. 9001 being the smaller of the two.
