Just wanted to get a thread started where you can share your diy projects on how you beat the heat in your reef tank.

I recently hooked up a small solar panel to power my pumps in case of summer's rolling black outs in the LA area. Putting the chiller outside also helps reduce the heat indoors and in the reef tank. I will post pics and links tomorrow.

I have always thought of plunbing a coil through a fridge freezer with a pump pushing it through the down side is what would control it anybody seen that.....plus what metal would be acceptable.....got the idea from those beer keg cooler taps

Solar panel? Can you explain more about it please? How many watts does it power and do you need to turn it on during a power outtage or does it automatically switch to solar power?

ATS automatic transfer switch......I am sure he has one the power goes out on the circuit and it swithces over.......but I would think he would be using it in reverse......the solar panel if big enough could run the whole tank free of charge and switch over at night if it could not keep up.
