So I find myself in need of some help.. I need to build a light stand for my light fixture.. As of now it's just sitting on top of my glass top and I want to spread the light coverage a bit.. All I have is a screwdriver and a hammer to work with so I'm in need of someone with the tools needed.. I have cash in return for the favor or some brew whatever you prefer.. I'm thinking something along the lines of this.. Thanks in advance.. I'll supply all materials of course and will help out...

Also with a square in the middle to hold the light fixture in.. Like this..

That's ugly....have you looked into using metal shelving as a light stand? It looks better, easy to set up (only need a screw driver) and is adjustable. I am in no way shape or form a welder, but if your light isn't to heavy I may be able to ghetto weld a metal stand for you. I made one for my ligh and it came out pretty good, but I would not trust it on something heavy long term . Pm for pics

So here's the metal shelving. It's cheap, adjustable, easy to screw in, and comes in many colors and sizes. I got mine at home depot.

This other stand I made by welding 2 square rods I got from home depot, then painted black with krylon fusion. About $20. If the light is any heavier, or the stand needs to be and bigger, your going to need bigger rods that cost more.

run a cross brace and it'll be fine... essentially make a triangle from the arm to the base
Ya if the light was any heavier or extended further I would. Thicker rods would probably eliminate the need for additional bracing to keep the same simple look. Or would a small like 1" triangle on that angle be strong enough without being a distraction?
