I just semi-cycled my frag tank in 6 days using that stuff. It definitely works but not that fast. Day one I added all water from my display and a cup of skimmate and a few shrimp. Day 3 I had my small ammonia spike and added the tims in addition to another cup of skim on day 4 to feed the Tims bacteria. . From day 6 and on I have zero ammonia and 5 nitrates. It works fast but not instantly. Now just have to ride out the diatom bloom.

What Robert said.

I added my livestock about 24 hours later. Fish and coral. I did buy a oversized bottle and continued to add capfuls of dr.Tims over the following week.

Just don't pour the bottle in and wait too long without adding some kind of bioload. The bacteria needs something to feed off and stay alive. whether it be old tank water, old sand or rock or skim like stated above.

Also what size tank and how many fish are we talking here? All new dry mined rock and sand? or established rocks and sand? I had never had detectable ammonia, just a very small amount of nitrite for a day, then it was all nitrate from there on out. I used some of that mined base rock the sell on MD, so there was no major die off from the rocks and the sand was rinse really well.

I really like the stuff. It worked great for me. Like said above you have to feed the bacteria. So make sure to add fish or ammonia right away

I started a tank and added Dr Tims the first day as well as a fish. I also continued to dose Dr Tims everyday for the first ts week, then a every few days to a week for the first month. The bacteria needs something g to feed off of. A few days after setting up the tank I started adding easy corals, by week 2 I added 2 fish. Never had a single problem. This was on a small 15 gallon with only a HOB filter.

My hospital tank's filter was seeded by my DT. My display tank was seeded with Dr.Tim's. never had a problem and I ran copper for about 1 month in my hospital tank. Does copper usually effect beneficial bacteria?
