Great stuff! Wish I had my new tank already up and running and space for a derasa! Holding off on clams until I figure out what was killing off the clams previously.

I might take your Deresa for the lagoon tank. Assume the nems won’t accidentally kill it?

Good pick @bakbay !

I'd love a derasa, but I got a 2" one at the beginning of this year that died, followed by a dead hippopus and a dead crocea. All three at almost precisely the 2 week mark. Meanwhile, all my SPS, LPS and everything else was growing gangbusters. I'm thinking there's a clam killer in my tank.

If I get that sorted, I think I may try a hippopus again or a squamosa/squamosina. Derasa might just be too large and too fast growing for my tank.

Sorry to hear that man - would love to know what happened though. Good luck finding the clam suspect!

I actually have a Teardrop in the 150g SPS tank but this guy will go to the Lagoon tank - hopefully it will grow fast to justify a bigger Laggon? lol

Dang that’s a beautiful Derasa!
It’s also for sale for $160 after this weekend! lol j/k

Yeah - will be my first. I’ve had maximas & croceas way back but never a deresa. It will be interesting to see how fast she will outgrow my tank!

Awesome derasa! @JojosReef how did the clams die? DM me so I don't hijack this thread. Knowing the symptoms (fast, slow, etc) might help you find the culprit.

First clam was a derasa from AquaSD. It died in about 2-3 weeks. Next clam was a hippopus, also from AquaSD, and it was TINY. Died in 2 weeks. Third clam was a crocea from Clammania. Died in 2 weeks.
FTS at the time of the derasa:

FTS for the hippo/crocea. I added a kessil + 30 degree reflector to add more light right on the clams:
