Ok so Ive been really lazy with the 300 gallon tank and I mean really lazy. I never test and never change water but in past tanks I would do a few things. With the 300 I basically make sure there water in the top off and feed the gremlins.
But I haven't done this "thing" in the 300 that I've always done in the past and I'm paying the price now. That "thing" is QT here's the drum roll I'VE GOT AEFW. I think I got them the weekend of rap. I didn't buy any corals at rap but did pick a few up from someone that was taking his tank down. I trusted him and no he doesn't go on the boards so no need to start asking who. I noticed that my tri-color wasn't looking as happy as it had been the day b4 so I dipped it and yep there were 2 flatworms on it. So I dipped what I could and tossed a few frags that had eggs.
At first I was all depressed and was thinking hard about taking the 300 down. But over the week I've been thinking it's actually a blessing in disguise. Now that I have reef aids I don't want to transfer it to anyone so I won't frag or trade anything out of my tank. Maybe now I'll grow full colonies out.

The frags that I recently acquired had eggs but the not my tri-color. No I didn't dip those frags when I first got them. After getting up at 3am and getting home at 7pm that sat the last thing I wanted to do was dip. I dint even acclimate them. I just dropped them in and let them fall where they feel. Then Sunday I got up and went to knotfest.

thanks for being the voice or REEF AIDS, its often not talked about but its a very real problem that's need to be out in the open more. Many people have REER AIDS for a long time and don't even know it, which can lead to transmission to others unknowingly. However with proper care and attention REEF AIDS can be treated, its not always easy but having REEF AIDS is not a death sentence. See you local fish supply store and pick up a Melanurus Wrasse. Also while your out go to your local hardware store and pick up Bayer advanced complete insect killer and use as directed over multiple weeks of dipping. Be sure to follow your treatment carefully to achieve full remission.

Side effects may include:
Sadness, loss of money, loss of time, coral death, RTN, bleached sps, and periods of extreme happiness while seeing improvements.

Here's the deal. I've always been the type that if someone comes over to my place and we shoot the **** for a bit I'll send them packing with a care package. So I've always never let my stuff grow out and colonize. So I'm thinking I am going to pick up a few wrasses to help keep them in check but that's it. If I know I have a parasite I won't frag or give stuff out. That's y it's a blessing in disguise.

Honestly you think buying from stores is the way to go or somehow increases your chances to not get pests? You know all those LE colonies come from the OCEAN right?
