So to recap, downside is I have some stars in my tank that have never been a problem in my tanks but if they do I get to buy a cool shrimp that will eat them. Then, once they're gone I get to choose between buying another live animal to feed it or rehome it recouping some of my initial investment. In addition, this somehow makes me a di**.
Only the last part seems bad but I can live with other peoples' judgement because I feel of others' opinions the way I feel about zoas...
And let's cut the sh**. Responsible reefing means buying only tank bred and maricultured livestock. There is more responsible and less responsible reefing for sure but frankly we're buying animals taken from their natural habitats to stick in a glass/acrylic box. These animals have a high mortality and the morbidity involved in being caught, shipped, minorly poisoned with chemicals, and fed unnatural foods far outweighs any type of "responsible" action by anyone. Furthermore if they die we just buy another...
